Who Is Marvel’s Galactus & How Does He Fit Into The MCU’s Fantastic Four?

Galactus Will Get A Second Chance At A Live-Action Adaptation

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Galactus made his debut in Fantastic Four #48 all the way back in March 1966 and has been one of the team’s most iconic villains. In the comics, Galactus is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel canon, as he has the ability to literally consume planets in order to survive. The Fantastic Four will be Galactus’ second live-action portrayal, following the panned version in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007.

As Galactus will be the primary antagonist in The Fantastic Four movie, this will likely be the MCU’s way of finally tackling the villain and exploring where he has been in the franchise this entire time. Given that The Fantastic Four is heavily theorized to take place in the 1960s, the movie may finally establish why Galactus has yet to appear in the present Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. However, whether his potential defeat in The Fantastic Four will remain permanent remains to be seen, as Galactus could still somehow return in the present at some point.

It’ll be exciting to see Marvel Studios do a more comic-accurate version of Galactus in The Fantastic Four, as Kevin Feige is likely aware of the controversial iteration from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Galactus will likely be a voice gig only for Ineson, who is a great fit as those who have followed his work in TV and film know. Hopefully, more details on The Fantastic Four reboot will arrive sooner rather than later as they get ready to start filming this year.
