Happy Gilmore 2 is a go. The movie will be a sequel to the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore, which starred Adam Sandler in the title role as a hockey player who becomes an unlikely golf champion. The movie gave the Saturday Night Live star with one of his first major lead roles in a motion picture and provides one half of the name of Sandler’s production company Happy Madison, which gets the other half from his earlier 1995 comedy Billy Madison.

At the Netflix Upfront presentation, the streaming service announced that their next collaboration with star Adam Sandler will be Happy Gilmore 2. Check out their Twitter announcement below:

While rumors have previously circulated that the project was in development, the streamer has finally confirmed that they are moving forward with the movie.
