After being absent from the previous movie, Cillian Murphy is officially set to return for 28 Years Later.

During a recent interview with Deadline at Cannes, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed that Cillian Murphy will be returning as Jim for 28 Years Later. Though careful not to share too much about what’s to come from the character’s return, he did tease it will be “in a surprising way” and hinted at a bigger future for Murphy in the planned trilogy ahead. Yes, but in a surprising way and in a way that grows, let me put it that way. This is Danny at his best, combined with a very commercial genre, like we had with Edgar Wright and Baby Driver.
