The Longlegs trailer shows the FBI searching for Nicolas Cage’s deeply disturbed killer. Written and directed by Osgood Perkins, the son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins, the upcoming horror film follows a female FBI agent assigned to the cold case of a serial killer (played by Nicolas Cage). As evidence of the occult is uncovered and the case becomes increasingly complex, she discovers a personal connection to the killer and must move swiftly to stop another family member from being murdered. The cast also includes Maika Monroe, Alicia Witt, and Blair Underwood.

The trailer follows the rookie FBI agent, Lee Harker, who takes on the case of a serial killer who goes by “Longlegs.” At a crime scene, the killer leaves behind references to the occult and Dante’s Nine Circles of Hell. The rest of the trailer is light on plot and instead uses terrifying visuals and sound design to hype up the horror film.

Longlegs Is Already Heavily Hyped

Though this is the second Longlegs trailer after an initial teaser was released in early February 2024, the horror film is already heavily hyped ahead of its release date in July thanks to its creative marketing campaign and early rave reviews. Starting in January, the independent studio shared various mysterious and eerie teasers for the film without revealing its title, instead using a code made up of occult symbols to maintain intrigue. The innovative marketing campaign started generating significant buzz for Longlegs long before its release.

In addition, early reviews for Longlegs have called it one of the best horror movies of 2024, with many praising its “nightmarish” story and visuals. For instance, one reviewer called it a “contemporary Silence of the Lambs” and the “real deal” in horror. Many of the reviews also praise Cage’s performance as the deeply disturbing serial killer. Furthermore, in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, producers Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum piled on the praise by calling Cage’s performance “truly terrifying” and Longlegsthe most iconic horror Cage.”
