How Will Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Address Charles’ Absence
Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin are also not expected to return for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
While a character’s death would hardly restrict a character from making a return, Charles will likely be established as having passed on directly rather than lingered, expanding on the movie’s rules of the recently deceased to explain his absence.

Beetlejuice 2 Finally Confirms The Death Of 1 Major Original Character After A Year Of Speculation
Beetlejuice 2’s first official trailer confirms a long-standing theory about the death of a major original character in the Tim Burton sequel.
According to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice‘s synopsis, the Deetz family will be reunited after some time following a family tragedy that is likely Charles’ death, bringing three generations back to the original Winter River home. Rather than the reunion focusing on Charles, however, the plot details that Lydia’s (Winona Ryder) own daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega), possesses a rebellious streak of her own. With the two being joined by Lydia’s stepmother Delia (Catherine O’Hara), the movie’s human drama could instead focus on the divide between these generations, as Lydia finds herself in a similar parenting position that Delia once did before.
