Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool can be seen in the wake of defeating the Avengers in shocking MCU fan art. Ryan Reynolds first appeared as Wade Wilson in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but brought a more comic-accurate version of the Merc-with-a-Mouth to life in 20th Century Fox’s revised Deadpool franchise. This version of Deadpool was confirmed to be making his way to the MCU after Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019, creating the opportunity for Reynolds’ antihero to meet some of the MCU’s most powerful superheroes, and this is set to take place in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.

Not much is known about Deadpool’s journey into the MCU, other than that the Time Variance Authority will be involved, and Deadpool & Wolverine will feature cameos from Fox’s X-Men characters. Once Deadpool is in the MCU, he will surely cross paths with Marvel Studios’ Avengers, though a harrowing potential future has been imagined in art shared by rezeren_arts.

The art depicts Deadpool sitting atop a pile of artifacts collected from the Avengers. These include Captain America’s shield, Iron Man’s mask, Thor’s hammer, Spider-Man’s mask and the Hulk’s arm, perhaps hinting at one of Marvel Comics’ most destructive Deadpool-centric storylines.

A wild theory spawning out of Deadpool 3’s set photos suggests that Ryan Reynolds’ Fox Deadpool kills the MCU variant of the merc with a mouth.

Why Deadpool’s Most Shocking Marvel Comics Story Probably Won’t Be Adapted For The MCU

Released in 2011, Marvel Comics’ Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe saw an alternate version of the Merc-with-a-Mouth become the subject of Psycho-Man’s manipulations. While attempting to rid Deadpool of his inner voices, Psycho-Man actually cleared room for a new one, which prompted Deadpool to embark on a murder spree through the Marvel Universe. This storyline saw Deadpool kill heroes including the Fantastic Four, Uatu the Watcher, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, the Avengers, Black Panther, the X-Men, and eventually every other hero in the Marvel Universe, before taking out the writers of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, and heading for the reader.

This was a brilliant four-issue story that focused on a more-unstable iteration of Deadpool that would go on to lead the Evil Deadpool Corps. Unfortunately, it’s incredibly unlikely that this popular story will be adapted for the MCU, simply because Marvel Studios wouldn’t want to eliminate every hero in the live-action franchise. However, speculation suggests that Deadpool may enact this story in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise, eliminating every mutant hero in that world before making his way to the MCU in 2024, creating a clean slate for mutants and the X-Men to debut in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot.
