DC Universe fan favorite choice Alan Ritchson reveals more in detail why he would love to play Batman in The Brave and The Bold. With the new DC Universe on its way, several iconic members of the Justice League will be reimagined for the big screen. One of them will be Batman, as DC Studios is currently developing The Brave and The Bold movie. However, despite being one of the first projects announced in January 2023, the next cinematic Dark Knight has yet to be cast.

For several months, Ritchson has emerged as one of the top fan favorites when it comes to Batman casting for DC Studios. In a new spotlight with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson opened up more about why he would like to portray Batman in Gunn’s DC Universe, sharing the following:

I’m getting this question, would I rather play Batman or Joker – Joaquin Phoenix crushed it, there’s no following that. I would love to play Batman, there, I said it! Okay I’ll shout it from the rooftops, ‘I want to be Bruce Wayne!’

Here’s the thing about Batman – you know what his superpower is? Intelligence: The dude is the smartest superhero there is. He’s inventive and he’s got all the gadgets stuff, but he’s super smart. I want to be that guy and also to have like a cave with hypercars, sports cars, and awesome motorcycles.

Batman’s iconic rogues’ gallery deserves a cast that does it justice, meaning the pressure is on for Gunn’s DCU to get these villains right.

Why Alan Ritchson Would Be Perfect As Batman In James Gunn’s DC Universe

There are a lot of reasons why Ritchson continues to be constantly favored to get cast as Batman. Currently, Ritchson is emerging more and more as a prominent action star through the ongoing Reacher TV show on Prime Video, is demonstrating his abilities to be a solid candidate as the Caped Crusader. Ritchson is also in the ideal age range for where DC appears to be going with The Brave and The Bold, as this Batman will be a father to Damian Wayne.

Ritchson is also no stranger to the comic book genre, as one of the first prominent roles in his career was playing Aquaman on Smallville. The Reacher star then returned to the DC brand through the Titans TV show in the first three seasons, where he portrayed Hank Hall, a.k.a. Hawk. If Ritchson got cast as Batman, it wouldn’t only be his third DC outing but a major upgrade, as he would be playing a member of the DC Trinity.

Physically, Ritchson also has the build of what many would expect from a live-action Batman, and likely would train even more if he landed the gig. Time will tell if Ritchson ends up getting tapped as the next Batman for Gunn’s DC Universe, as the DC Studios co-CEO has made it clear that casting has not started yet. Hopefully, more updates on Batman’s place in the DC Universe, including The Brave and The Bold movie, will emerge sooner rather than later.
