A new trailer offers a closer look at Abigail. The upcoming movie is the latest horror offering from the filmmaking collective known as Radio Silence, which includes directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett as well as producer Chad Villella and is known for movies such as Ready or Not, Scream (2022), and Scream VI. Loosely inspired by 1936’s Dracula’s Daughter, the movie follows a group of people who are holding a kidnapped little girl hostage, only to realize that they are caught in a trap as she reveals that she is a bloodthirsty vampire.

Universal Pictures has unveiled a brand-new Abigail trailer just two weeks ahead of the movie’s official theatrical release date. Check out the video below:

The trailer opens on a quiet scene where Abigail (Alisha Weir) is in a cage, seemingly trapped by the kidnappers, but the balance of power quickly reverses when Joey (Melissa Barrera) asks which of them is actually in a cage and Abigail bursts open the metal door to go on the attack. The rest of the trailer sees the crew scrambling to find ways to defeat a vampire, with crucifixes absolutely failing to do the trick.

More Plot Details Have Been Unearthed For The Universal Horror Movie

While the latest trailer for the new Melissa Barrera horror movie is just over a minute long, it is packed with details that may reveal hidden plot elements. While it is unclear if Abigail is trapped in the cage in multiple different scenes or just one sequence that is split up throughout the trailer, the scene depicted in the movie reveals that the kidnappers discover her vampiric nature before the majority of them die. While it seems like Angus Cloud’s character may be killed before they know the truth, the scene features at least four surviving members of the crew.

Euphoria
star Angus Cloud, who passed away in July 2023.

Sammy, the character played by Lisa Frankenstein star Kathryn Newton, is also key to the revelations in the new trailer. In addition to showcasing the characters Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque preparedness in a shot that shows her clutching a flashlight and a baton, the trailer reveals a major gross-out sequence involving Sammy falling into a pit of decaying bodies while attempting to escape an attack. This seems to reveal that the mansion in which the crew is trapped is commonly used for Abigail to feed.

The original Abigail already implied that something was amiss when metal shutters locked the kidnappers inside the mansion. However, this latest revelation likely means that their boss Lambert (Giancarlo Esposito) is in cahoots with either Abigail or her crime lord father. It remains to be seen which members of the crew remain alive by the end of the movie, but this trailer emphasizes how much the odds are stacked against them.
