Original franchise star Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, gives some heartwarming advice to the Harry Potter TV show cast. Adapting the beloved source material from author J.K. Rowling, the first Harry Potter movie was released in 2001, with the epic saga eventually concluding after eight films in 2011. After a series of Fantastic Beasts spinoff movies, which were a mixed bag in terms of success, Warner Bros. Discovery announced last spring that a more faithful TV show adaptation of Harry’s story is on the way in the form of a Max original series.

In a recent interview with Collider, Felton reveals what his advice would be to the cast of the upcoming Harry Potter TV show remake. According to the original star, taking lots of pictures to preserve the memories of being on set is what he would recommend. Check out his full comment below:

“I’m not sure I’m equipped to give advice to anyone. I think [Lucius Malfoy actor] Jason Isaacs, I’m pretty sure one of his first pieces of advice was, ‘Don’t take advice from anyone.’

“I would only say take more pictures and try and steal more props. I’m joking about the last one, but take more pictures because when I find one that I haven’t seen for a long time now, it reminds me of how much fun we were having. Bearing in mind, we didn’t have camera phones then or anything like that, so it’s a bit easier now.”

While there are many reasons why the original Harry Potter movies became such a phenomenon, the actors involved are undoubtedly a major factor. Many of these actors are still best known for their Wizarding World characters, despite the fact that most have taken on a variety of subsequent roles.

Considering the eight films in the original saga have lived on and are still popular with audiences of various ages to this day, it’s going to be a tall order to recast these beloved characters for a new adaptation. No matter the talent of who ends up being chosen, comparisons to the original cast will be impossible to escape. Nostalgia and affection for the original Harry Potter movies could make it difficult for some audiences to embrace a new telling of the story with new actors.

That being said, the Harry Potter TV show is being described as a more faithful and complete adaptation of Rowling’s novels, with each season set to tackle one book in the series. If done right, the TV show will explore each of these characters with even more depth.
