Jonathan Majors has received a sentence in his assault trial. Majors is an actor best known for playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) character Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors has also played roles in films like Da 5 Bloods and The Last Black Man in San Francisco.

As per Variety, Majors has now received a sentence in his domestic assault case. Majors was sentenced to one year of counseling, following his conviction of domestic assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. This counseling will include a 52-week mental health therapy program, which specializes in domestic violence. In addition to this year of therapy, Majors has been placed on a permanent order of protection against contacting the victim, Jabbari. If Majors were to violate this order or participate in any other criminal activity, he could face jail time.

Jonathan Majors was first arrested for assault, strangulation, and harassment on March 25, 2023. The victim, now identified as Jabbari, reportedly “informed the police she was assaulted.” A later report stated that there were multiple alleged victims of Jonathan Majors’ abuse, including Jabbari among others. On December 18, 2023, Majors was convicted of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment against Jabbari. He has since been waiting for a verdict on his punishment for these convictions, and said decision has been made with the most recent sentencing.

On the same day as his December conviction, Majors was fired from the MCU. This move will effectively shoot down any chances at a revived career for the actor. With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania releasing on February 17, 2023, Majors’ mainstream career was just starting to heat up, only for his actions to lead to an arrest and then a firing all within one year. While Marvel made the just decision in this case, Majors’ firing presents an ongoing challenge for the MCU, as they intended Kang to be a key new character.

2 MCU Scenes Just Got Way More Important Now That Jonathan Majors Is Done As Kang

Jonathan Majors’ departure from the MCU undoubtedly complicates things for Marvel Studios, and two scenes are not much more important in hindsight.

In addition to losing his role in the MCU, other Majors projects have also been shot down. This includes the film Magazine Dreams, wherein majors was supposed to play a bodybuilder named Killian Maddox, who seeks to achieve a dream of going pro even if it wrecks his body. Magazine Dreams has lost Disney as a distributor, which will likely mean the film will not be released. While Majors has maintained his innocence throughout the trial, the chances of him having a career again keep getting slimmer between his conviction and sentencing.
