Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes gets a new clip, explaining one reboot series Easter egg featured in the new movie. Directed by Wes Ball, the upcoming Planet of the Apes movie stars Owen Teague as Noa, a young ape who embarks on an epic adventure and comes up against a tyrannical ape ruler. The film follows mostly ape characters, but Freya Allan plays a prominent role as Mae, who is also referred to as Nova, the same name given to a character in Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes.


In a new clip shared by 20th Century Studios ahead of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes release date, it’s revealed why Allan’s character is given the name Nova. Check out the clip below:
