What Aang: The Last Airbender‘s Title Could Mean For The New Trilogy

Alternatively, the new
Avatar: The Last Airbender
movie trilogy could potentially be a cross-generational series focusing not only just on Aang, but other Avatars.

With the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie now being established as the first chapter in a trilogy, its new title offers an interesting glimpse at how this new movie series could unfold. With the title Aang: The Last Airbender, the two following movies could potentially center on other individuals of the Gaang instead, keeping within the period and fleshing out the gaps between the post-animated series comics and The Legend of Korra. As such, this series can reunite audiences with fan-favorites, including Suki, who didn’t appear in the sequel series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are both consistently great shows, but which season of the franchise is the best?

Alternatively, the new Avatar: The Last Airbender movie trilogy could potentially be a cross-generational series focusing not only just on Aang, but other Avatars. With the first chapter centered on an older Aang, the second installment could potentially return to Korra’s era, exploring her fate after the climax of The Legend of Korra and diving into her life, potentially at the same age as Aang in his film. The trilogy could then conclude with a movie focused on the new Earthbender Avatar, possibly acting as an introduction to the character ahead of their series.

While the subject of the complete animated Avatar: The Last Airbender movie trilogy has yet to be revealed, Aang: The Last Airbender‘s new reveals promise a strong return for the beloved animated property. Not only is Bautista’s casting an excellent addition to the series’ already impressive lineup, but the return of Basco as Zuko and new Gaang voice actors will leave viewers excited. Furthermore, this only fuels speculation on what the next two chapters could hold ahead of its 2025 release.
