Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling bashes Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson over their support for trans rights. Rowling is the British author behind the best-selling book series that was adapted into the equally successful film franchise starring Radcliffe and Watson as Harry and Hermione. In contrast to Rowling, who has courted controversy for her comments about transgender people and criticism of the trans rights movement, Radcliffe and Watson have both expressed support for trans rights.

Rowling made multiple remarks in response to a new report criticizing current gender care treatments for young people. One of Rowling’s followers responded to her, saying they were waiting for Radcliffe and Watson to give her “a very public apology … safe in the knowledge that you will forgive them.” Rowling replied, “Not safe, I’m afraid. Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single sex spaces.”
