Marvel Studios releases new Captain America: Brave New World footage, giving a first look at Sam Wilson’s next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following the ending of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Sam is set to take on a bigger role than ever in the MCU, as he is the new Captain America, taking over for Steve Rogers. Serving as the start of a potential new Captain America trilogy, Captain America: Brave New World will explore Sam as the titular hero, after he finally accepted Steve’s final wish in Avengers: Endgame.

Disney took the stage at this year’s CinemaCon to showcase several of their upcoming blockbuster releases, including those from Marvel Studios. However, in a surprising move, the Captain America: Brave New World story was finally showcased, and Screen Rant saw the first footage for the 2025 installment.

Begins at the White House lawn at night. Then inside the Oval Office, Harrison Ford as U.S. President Thaddeus Ross meets Sam Wilson (not in the Cap suit). Sam says, “I’m not used to the new look,” to Thaddeus.

Thaddeus wants Sam to recreate the Avengers. We see Joaquin Torres and Sam Wilson, who are thanked by Thaddeus and an audience for a mission they accomplished. As Thaddeus is speaking, something starts playing over the speakers. He stops talking to see what’s going on. We see Isaiah Bradley sitting down. The sound triggers something in him.

Isaiah gets up, grabs a gun and shoots at the president. He’s stone-faced, not in control. Then an admiral does the same — multiple people are trying to kill the president, though they’re not in control of themselves. A SWAT team comes in to protect the president, and Isaiah escapes.

Lots of close-quarter combat and various action shots, including one in which Sam is holding the Captain America shield while people with electric batons are attacking him.

Back at the scene that started the sequence, Thaddeus tells Sam, “Just do your job. You’re not Steve Rogers.” Sam replies, “I know. I’m not.” The footage ends on Sam in the new Captain America suit, with the drone coming out of his back.

Captain America 4 Looks Primed To Set Up Avengers 5

Based on the Captain America: Brave New World footage, the primary arc for Sam will entail not just being the new Captain America, but potentially even leading the Avengers. However, with Ross being the one wanting him to restart the team, this is potentially what the larger conflict of Captain America: Brave New World will be, as Sam is probably not in favor of having an Avengers team that is directly tied to Harrison Ford’s character. It remains to be seen how this ties back to The Leader’s villainous role in Captain America: Brave New World.

One of the biggest criticisms throughout The Multiverse Saga has been the lack of the Avengers and the current status of the team at this point in the MCU after The Infinity Saga. With the Captain America: Brave New World footage, this confirms that the Avengers have not really been a thing for quite some time. Captain America: Brave New World is looking to be the crucial piece in setting up the Avengers 5 story, which will likely consist of both new and established MCU heroes.

Captain America: Brave New World sounds like it will be one of the most action-heavy films of the upcoming MCU slate, with Sam having to figure out why the U.S. President is being targeted. As much as the footage revealed about Captain America: Brave New World, there are still a lot of remaining mysteries to look forward to with the film. Hopefully, it won’t be long until Marvel Studios decides to release the first Captain America: Brave New World trailer and let the public see the footage.
