Family Guy becomes a nightmarish Tim Burton creation in a new AI video. First airing on Fox in 1999, Seth McFarlane’s popular animated sitcom follows the misadventures of Peter Griffin and the Griffin family in a small Rhode Island town. The show features a distinct and colorful animation style, which differs greatly from Burton’s work in the same medium. While Burton works most frequently in live-action, he has released animated movies like Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie, both of which feature darker themes and visuals.

A new AI-generated video shared by Milan Jaram Creations on Instagram imagines the worlds of Family Guy and Burton colliding, resulting in a very nightmarish animated sitcom. Check out the video below:

The art features much more disturbing versions of Stewie, Lois, Meg, Herbert, Cleveland, Chris, Quagmire, Joe, Adam West, Pewterschmidt, Bonnie, Peter, and Brian, changing these normally amusing characters into figures who are much more monstrous.

Why The Director Wouldn’t Be Suited To A Family Guy-Like Show

Burton’s directing career includes movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, all films that show off his unique visual sensibilities as a filmmaker. Burton’s style extends beyond just a visual aesthetic, however, and into the subject matter itself. Many of the director’s movies deal with death in some way, in addition to following people who are outcasts in society.

While these traits don’t make a Burton sitcom impossible, a key challenge facing any such project is that most of his movies are not overly comedic. Plenty of his films feature a dark brand of macabre comedy, but it’s not typically the laugh-out-loud kind of funny that most sitcoms aim for. A sitcom will often feature rapid-fire jokes and physical gags in just about every scene, and this just isn’t present in any of Burton’s movies.

Something like Michael Keaton’s titular character in Beetlejuice, however, suggests a Burton sitcom could find success with a specific brand of humor, but it may not appeal to a wide audience. Keaton’s character in the film is chaotic and funny in just about all of his scenes, it’s just not a more traditional style of Family Guy sitcom humor. As the above AI art suggests, a Burton sitcom isn’t impossible, but it would certainly be unorthodox and, for better or worse, probably unlike just about any other sitcom out there.
