The movie was directed by Simon Cellan Jones (The Family Plan) and written by Michael Brandt (3:10 to Yuma).

Screen Rant is happy to present a behind-the-scenes clip from the digital release of Arthur the King detailing one of the movie’s impressive stunts. The movie’s stars, Mark Wahlberg and Nathalie Emmanuel, play adventure racers, who compete in long-distance races that may involve a range of means of traversal. In the clip, you can see Emmanuel’s character falling from a zipline—a stunt performed by the actor herself.

Arthur The King’s Authenticity Is Its Best Quality

As seen in the clip, the stars of Arthur the King threw themselves into their work, even when that required them to throw themselves off of a zipline. Mark Wahlberg told Screen Rant about the intense training process he went through to portray Lindnord, and Lindnord was even involved in creating the movie. Though that work may not be top of mind for viewers who haven’t seen BTS clips like the one above, it goes a long way in helping the story of Arthur the dog feel authentic. This is key, considering that the movie is telling a true story.

The true story of Arthur the King is largely intact in the dramatized version of the story. In real life, Lindnord gave a stray dog some food while on an adventure race through a 430-mile course, and the dog went on to follow him for the duration of his journey. The truth behind the movie elevates Arthur the King from what could be seen as a heartwarming, family-friendly adventure to an incredible portrayal of real events.

The filmmakers behind Arthur the King know this. Screen Rant previously debuted an Arthur the King featurette that highlighted the truth behind the story, and many of the movie’s good reviews cite its real-world inspiration as a primary selling point. Thanks to its true story, Arthur the King feels like a celebration of an amazing journey—even if some parts of the movie have been tweaked to better fit a three-act structure, viewers can take even more enjoyment knowing that Arthur the dog is really out there.
