28 Years Later has added three well-known English stars to the cast. The upcoming horror movie is the long-awaited sequel to 2002’s 28 Days Later and 2007’s 28 Weeks Later, both of which explored the results of a virulent rage virus spreading throughout England and turning its inhabitants into bloodthirsty zombie-like creatures. The upcoming movie will reteam director Danny Boyle with writer Alex Garland and original 28 Days star Cillian Murphy, who joins the duo as an executive producer and has so far not been set to reprise his role as Jim.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes have joined the cast of the upcoming 28 Years Later. No information has been released about the characters they will be playing, as plot details are still being kept tightly under wraps. Likewise, it has only been revealed that they will be appearing in the first movie of the planned trilogy of new installments in the franchise, the second of which will reportedly be directed by Candyman‘s Nia DaCosta.

All Three Actors Have Appeared In Prominent Titles
So far, the incoming stars rival the stacked cast of 28 Weeks Later, which included Idris Elba, Jeremy Renner, Rose Byrne, Robert Carlyle, Imogen Poots, and Harold Perrineau. Each of the new cast members has several huge titles under their belt. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, for instance, has starred in the Kick-Ass movies, Godzilla (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tenet, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter, in addition to being rumored to be in contention for the role of James Bond and winning a Golden Globe for his performance in Nocturnal Animals.

28 Years Later is finally happening, and while the story of the film isn’t yet known, it really needs to bring back the classic characters.
Ralph Fiennes is another huge get for the franchise. In addition to playing the iconic roles of the Dark Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise and M in several of the Daniel Craig James Bond movies, the star has appeared in nearly 100 titles including Schindler’s List, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, The Hurt Locker, In Bruges, The Constant Gardener, and The Menu. He also has two Oscar nominations under his belt, for Schindler’s List and The English Patient.

Jodie Comer is also a decorated actor, having won an Emmy and a BAFTA for her role as Villanelle in Killing Eve. Other prominent titles in which she has appeared include Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Free Guy, and the upcoming The Bikeriders opposite Tom Hardy and Austin Butler. While the new cast’s 28 Years Later characters remain unknown, they are all well-equipped with experience playing a wide variety of roles in different genres.

28 Years Later is the tentative title for the third film in the “28 Days Later” franchise, initially conceived by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland. Originally expected to be titled “28 Months Later,” the film still hasn’t been officially confirmed, but preliminary work on a script has reportedly been underway.
