Zack Snyder teases Rebel Moon 3 and Balisarius’ role moving forward given the fate of Admirable Noble. Picking up after the end of Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver sees Kora (Sofia Boutella) and her band of fighters attempting to repel the evil Imperium from the farming colony of Veldt. After being resurrected following his defeat in the first Netflix film, Noble (Ed Skrein), Balisarius’ (Fra Fee) top admiral, meets a much more definitive end this time around when Kora decapitates him.

In a recent interview with THR, Snyder teases how Noble’s death will impact Balisarius’ role in a prospective Rebel Moon 3 and beyond. According to the director, the character is poised to take center stage as the franchise’s villain as Kora’s story continues to unfold. Check out his full comment below:

I feel like we’re going to get a lot more of Balisarius himself as you go forward. If you were to make the rest of the stories that I have laid out, you’d certainly have a Balisarius percentage increase. Exponentially, you’d start getting more and more Balisarius until it’s just Balisarius and Kora,

10 Changes Rebel Moon 3 Needs To Make To Redeem Zack Snyder’s 21% & 17% Rotten Tomatoes Misfires

Zack Snyder hopes to continue the Rebel Moon franchise with a third installment. Here’s what he and Netflix can do to get things back on track.

Will Zack Snyder Get To Make Rebel Moon 3?

Why His Netflix Sequel Isn’t Yet A Sure Thing

Although Snyder has been clear about his desire to continue his space opera franchise, with co-writer Kurt Johnstand telling Screen Rant that as many as four additional films could be on the way, Netflix has not yet given the green light. The first installment earned overwhelmingly negative reviews, and the Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver reviews are even worse. The two films are Snyder’s lowest-rated movies of all time on Rotten Tomatoes, with 21% and 15%, respectively.

Even though both have been lambasted by critics, it’s still possible that Rebel Moon 3 will move forward. The first film was a viewership hit, albeit a somewhat modest one, upon its release in December. The sequel has just topped the Netflix top 10 chart for the week of April 15 – 21, but the numbers are down somewhat from the first installment. In its first week, the film accumulated 21.4 million views compared to the 23.9 million of the first installment. While respectable, Extraction 2, another Netflix original movie, debuted to 42.8 million last June.

Both
Rebel Moon
movies are now available to stream on Netflix, and a director’s cut of each film are confirmed to arrive this summer.

Working in Snyder’s favor, however, is that he has a strong working relationship with Netflix. The filmmaker has now made three movies for the streamer, including 2021’s Army of the Dead, and Netflix could be keen to continue this creative partnership. If Rebel Moon 3 does move forward, it’s clear that audiences should expect to see a lot more Balisarius.
