Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes just had its premiere, and social media reactions to the movie are now emerging online. Directed by Wes Ball, the latest installment in the Planet of the Apes franchise takes place hundreds of years after the events of the recent reboot trilogy and Caesar’s story. The sequel follows Noa (Owen Teague) a young ape who embarks on an epic adventure with the human Mae (Freya Allan), with the pair eventually finding themselves at odds with the villainous Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand).

Now, ahead of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes‘ release date, reactions from the first screening of the movie are pouring in on X, formerly Twitter. From the posts so far, audiences are in for a fun, action-packed blockbuster. Check out select reactions below:


Apes together are strong & so is #KingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes,” writes Erik Davis. He calls the film “another tense, exciting installment that astounds [with] its inventive action and visual effects.”

Matt Neglia calls the film “yet another strong entry in the Planet of the Apes franchise.” “Relieved & thriller by how much I enjoyed it,” he continues, “even compared to the last nearly perfect trilogy.”


Daniel Howat says that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is “a genuinely exciting action adventure, perhaps larger in scope than the last films, but just as grounded in honest emotion.”

Takes a minute to get going, thoroughly introducing new characters & timeline, then never looks back,” writes Brandon Davis. Echoing previous sentiments, he also says the “VFX are astonishing.”


Griffin Schiller calls the film “MAGNIFICENT” and an “odyssey of truth & lies, knowledge & power.”

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apestakes a little while to find its footing, but builds into an [sic] captivating second act and a thrilling finale,” writes Ian Sandwell.


According to Dorian Parks, the new installment “cements the franchise as one of the strongest IPs out there!

Scott Mantz calls the film “an excellent & very entertaining continuation of the new mythology!

Germain Lussier is somewhat more lukewarm on the movie than some of the others featured above, writing “It has A LOT to say, which leaves it thematically murky – I also don’t *love* the ending.” But he does conclude by calling it an “otherwise enjoyable, engaging film.”
