The Fall Guy 2 has received a major update from Ryan Gosling. Gosling plays hapless stuntman Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy, which is based on the 1980s television show of the same name. Although at first Colt’s primary concern with being part of the movie Metalstorm is the fact that it is being directed by his ex Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), he becomes drawn into an action-packed mystery thriller over the course of the movie when attempting to solve the disappearance of the star he’s doubling, Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who is mixed up in the criminal underworld.

During a recently published interview with Fast Company conducted shortly after the Academy Awards ceremony in March, Gosling spoke candidly and optimistically about the possibility of a Fall Guy sequel. Indeed, he said that a script for the sequel has already been written because he and Blunt wanted to know what happens next, “just for ourselves.” However, he warned that the movie won’t be made unless the original performs well, saying that “hopefully the audience wants to know, too.” Read his full quote below:

The sequel sort of wrote itself. We already know [the story] intimately. We’re just hoping that people like this movie enough that we get to keep telling the story of these characters. We love them so much, and we love this world, and I feel confident that we can do it… Oh yeah, [we’ve already got a script.] We already—I mean, we love these characters so much that we wanted to know, just for ourselves, what happens to Colt and [Emily Blunt’s character] Jody after the movie ends? What’s the next phase for them? And we know exactly what it is. So hopefully the audience wants to know, too.
